My Cousin Vinny, Doctor Sleep, In the Heat of the Night and Sweet Home Alabama are just a few of the productions that have been filmed there. Other prolific establishments include Butter Bakery & Coffee Shop and Scoops Ice Cream, just to name a couple.īut Covington continues to help Georgia earn its nickname as the “Hollywood of the South” as a filming location for the Netflix series Sweet Magnolias, as well. And to help make the most of your trip, be sure to take advantage of photo ops with faux Mystic Falls town signs in more than one location. You can enjoy the Mystic Burger, Mystic Salad or even Mystic Patty Melt at local favorite Mystic Grille. With a magnificent clocktower overlooking the town since 1884, Covington has no shortage of charm and has made it a point to embrace its role as an on-screen setting. Aside from its good looks and impressive array of shops, the town also happens to be the filming location for The Vampire Diaries, where real-life Covington turns into the fictional Mystic Falls for the series.
